Spielefest 2026 Is Over, and We’re Tired Thrilled

After two full days at Spielefest, plus half a day of setting everything up, it’s finally over. Two days filled with conversations, new acquaintances, countless spins of our prize wheel, and at least as many pieces of chocolate.

To be honest, we’re a little tired after this weekend, but above all, we’re incredibly excited. The interest in our association, the positive feedback we received, and the many wonderful conversations far exceeded our expectations.

Before we dive into the festival itself, though, let’s rewind the story a little.

The Road to Spielefest

Many of us have been visiting Spielefest for years. As attendees, we were always impressed by how many people come together to share their enthusiasm for board games, pen-and-paper RPGs, trading cards, and video games.

At some point, one obvious question came up:
Why aren’t we exhibiting there ourselves next year?

What started as a small idea gradually turned into a concrete plan. After a few discussions within the association, it became clear: we wanted to present Gamerlicious at Spielefest.

The Pitch

The first step was our application. It wasn’t just about explaining who we are, but also what we actually do and how we could contribute to the festival.

Preparing the tote bags

After all, Gamerlicious is much more than regular board game evenings.

We organize community servers, promote and support gaming culture in all its forms, and strive to bring together people who simply enjoy playing games.

Fortunately, our concept convinced the organizers, and after a bit of waiting, we received the news we had hoped for.
We’re going to Spielefest 2026!

Getting Ready

Once we were accepted, the real work began.

Our website received a small facelift, we wrote new articles, and updated existing information. After all, we wanted everyone visiting our website after the festival to leave with a great first impression.

Finished tote bags

The newly prepared topics also had to be learned by everyone staffing the booth so that even if the resident expert happened to be talking to someone else, visitors could still get a solid overview of what Gamerlicious is all about.

At the same time, we brainstormed how our booth should look. To attract visitors, we decided on a prize wheel. Besides plenty of chocolate as a small giveaway, participants also had the chance to win a variety of larger prizes.

Association T-shirt with QR code and crocheted owl keychain

For these prizes, Samuel and Sabine handcrafted Gamerlicious-branded tote bags and crocheted keychains featuring our association’s logo. The idea was simple: sustainable marketing without creating more unnecessary promotional clutter.

We also wanted to be easily recognizable as a team, so we prepared new Gamerlicious T-shirts for everyone working the booth.

Many small tasks—but together, they made all the difference.

Two Full Days at Spielefest

Our goal was actually quite simple:
Talk to people, start conversations, and show them what Gamerlicious is all about.

The prize wheel served as the perfect icebreaker. Everyone who spun it was guaranteed to win a little something while also getting the chance to learn about our association.

Visitors queueing at the Gamerlicious booth

Spoiler: it worked.

At times, small queues formed in front of the prize wheel, and our supply of major prizes disappeared much faster than expected. A huge thank you goes to Sabrina and Sabine without your help, we never could have handled the crowds.

What made us even happier, though, was something else entirely.
Many visitors came to our booth without being drawn in by the prize wheel or any other attraction. They were simply curious, asked questions, or wanted to know what Gamerlicious actually is.
Those conversations ultimately became the most valuable part of the entire weekend.

The People We Met

Over the course of the two days, we had countless conversations.
With families, children, young couples, casual gamers, long time video game and board game enthusiasts, fellow associations, and people who simply happened to walk past our booth.

Every conversation was different.

Some visitors only wanted to know where the esports arena was. They listened to our short introduction before continuing on—hopefully stopping by our website later. Others were genuinely interested in our association and our work, or shared stories about their own projects.

It’s exactly this kind of exchange that makes events like Spielefest so special. You quickly realize that behind every game are people who genuinely enjoy sharing their passion with others.

Impressions

Looking back, we can only say one thing:
The weekend was a complete success.

Whenever our prize wheel was running—which also happened to be our busiest hours—the prepared giveaways quickly found new owners, and we had the pleasure of meeting countless interested visitors.

Even more importantly, many short conversations turned into genuine interest.

In total, well over a thousand visitors learned about Gamerlicious during the festival.

That’s exactly why we were there.

The Week After

After such an intense weekend, it was finally time to catch our breath.

On Monday, we were still processing all the impressions from the festival. At the same time, the first messages from people we had met at Spielefest were already arriving.

One particularly rewarding outcome was that one of those conversations has already led to a new member joining our association.
We also welcomed several new people to our Discord community.

Finally, we’d like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth, chatted with us, or simply spun the prize wheel.

Spielefest 2026 was a very special experience for Gamerlicious and once again showed us just how many people share our passion for the positive side of gaming culture.

We’re already looking forward to everything that will grow from these new connections—and, now that we’ve finally caught up on sleep, to the next Spielefest.
